Karatedo and Kobudo were born out of this historical exchange of cultures from a mixture of traditional Okinawan martial arts and those of neighboring countries. Karatedo and Kobudo promote not only physical strength, but also greatly contribute to the building of character through the incorporation of ethics such as respect and courtesy. Today Karatedo and Kobudo are practiced by 50 million people in 178 countries worldwide."
