Detail: The Institute of Martial Arts - West Haven has been training children and adults in the art of Tang Soo Do for over 12 years. We focus on respect and discipline while teaching forms, sparring, weapons, and board breaking. As part of the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Federation, our students and instructors compete in tournaments locally, around the country, and around the world. Head Instructor Darryl Santaus took over ownership in August 2010 from his instructors. "The Institute of Martial Arts is not only an excellent martial arts school, it is also a tight-knit community for our students. That was the primary reason for deciding to run the school." We are very family-oriented, with brothers and sisters as well as parents and children taking classes together. Our training is traditional, encompassing the refinement of technique, hyung (forms) and dae ryun (sparring). We encourage the pursuit of excellence in our Art and applaud our students and instructors achievements both within our discipline and in their scholastic or personal achievements. The bedrock of the Federation has always been and continues to be its emphasis on respect for the traditions, beliefs, and practices, which characterize Tang Soo Do.
