Introduction:	Welcome to Cottonwood Elementary School. We are in our second year and currently have 559 students. We have a dedicated, highly skilled staff ready to provide the best possible educational experiences using Kennewick School District adopted curriculum, state of the art technology and creative lesson design. Cottonwood is a school where all students will be challenged toDream . Discover . Achieve. Providing a "rock solid" foundation in the core curriculum areas of reading, writing, math and science is our focus. We are an academic school and have organized our schedule to include a 2 hour reading block in the morning and a 1 hour math block in the afternoon for grades 1st - 5th. Utilizing the response to Intervention model, we will insure that our struggling students get the support they need to be successful, and all students will be challenged to learn and grow at high levels. Music, social studies, physical education, art and technology are included in the curriculum to provide a well balanced program of instruction. Our students' success depends on maintaining a strong partnership and open communication with their families. We encourage you to get to know your student's teacher, volunteer in the classroom, and join our Parent Teacher Organization. Together we can ensure that Cottonwood students have every opportunity to have an all star year!
