Detail: Our after-school program offers a variety of services, including homework completion, test preparation, individualized tutoring (as needed), social skills development, and opportunities to improve physical fitness. Completion of homework is one of our top priorities therefore an 30 minutes to an hour of each day is dedicated to homework. Although this is of extreme importance to us there are some occasions in which all of the homework can not be completed. Subsequently, parents must provide assistance at home to ensure it is completed. If students are unable to complete their homework during the allotted time this information will be communicated to parents. At least one hour each day will be dedicated to promoting reading and literacy. This will be done through teacher instruction and in various creative ways. Several months of each year are devoted to SAT and other test preparation, with one goal being to improve students’ test taking skills. Students will be responsible for developing a newsletter for families, teachers, and The Children’s Trust. We will also utilize a variety of software to enhance student literacy and math skills. There are certified teachers on staff who specialize in Science, Humanities, Computer Technology, Literacy, and Mathematics. One-on-one and small group tutoring is offered to students in need of intensive intervention.
