Details:
hen you think about martial arts, what comes to mind? Bruce Lee or Walker, Texas Ranger, defending against multiple attackers with spinning kicks in the air? Although self defense is certainly one aspect of the martial arts that is taught here, it is not our main focus. The main focus of the training taught at the United Martial Arts Center is on your mental and physical development. Some of the physical benefits that directly result from martial arts training include stress release, flexibility, muscle development, and development of the respiratory, circulatory, immune and digestive systems. Some of the mental benefits include a greater ability to focus, increased concentration and will power, and patience with yourself, and with those around you. At this point, you may be saying “I’m too old to begin martial arts!†The core group of our adult program are students who are 35-55 year old professionals. Students train with different priorities. One student may train for stress release, while another may train for less back pain, or overall physical strength and toning. Each student’s individual goals and issues are discussed and specifically addressed in their training. Our teachers work with you individually to determine your goals, and care that your training enables you to achieve those goals. You are never just another body in a class getting a work out. The practice of martial art movements provides excellent tools that can be used to obtain physical and mental goals, and to help you reach your full potential.
