Details:	CounterStrike MMA Academy originated at the Oak Brook Park District in May of 2008. Class sizes grew exponentially creating a need for a new facility. In July of 2009 CounterStrike MMA Academy moved to their New Home at 1730 Ogden Ave. Downers Grove, IL 60515. The concept of combining the elements of multiple martial arts was pioneered and popularized by Bruce Lee in the late 1960's to early 1970's. Lee believed that "the best fighter is not a Boxer, Karate or Judo man. The best fighter is someone who can adapt to any style." It is now evolved into something that most people could not foresee. Mixed martial arts or MMA is also known as a full contact sport that allows for a wide variety of fighting techniques, from a mixture of martial arts traditions. The rules allow the use of striking and grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground. Modern mixed martial arts competition emerged in popular culture in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC and now has spread throughout the world to become the fastest growing sport in the world. CounterStrike MMA Academy provides specialized Martial Arts Programs including Muay Thai Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and MMA. CounterStrike MMA Academy is a 5000 Square Foot Training Center with a 20 x 20 Foot Full-Sized Ring, 1000 Square Feet of Tatame Mats, Multiple Heavy Bags, Cardiovascular and Strength Training Equipment, and Private Dressing Rooms. CounterStrike MMA Academy is now offering classes in: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Judo Muay Thai Self-Defense MMA
