Details:
Prescott Family Karate combines two styles of martial arts: Shuri-ryu and Kemscrima-doh. Shuri-ryu is an Okinawan style of karate utilizing punches, blocks, kicks, katas, sparring techniques (Kumite), and Kobuto (traditional weapons). There is also a strong focus on self-defense techniques. Shuri-ryu is an eclectic martial arts system, developed by Robert Trias, and was first taught in America in 1945. Kemscrima-doh which means "The way of the stick and the fist", is an ever-evolving combative system. Kemscrima-doh teaches us two very important concepts in weaponry. 1) that any hand held object can be used as a weapon, and 2) that any hand held weapon is but an extension of our arms.
