Details:
Traditional Aikido of Santa Rosa teaches the Japanese martial art of Aikido. The lead instructor, Jay Bell Sensei, is a godan (5th degree) in Aikido, and has trained with both Morehei Saito Sensei and Tetsutaka Sugawara Sensei in Japan. In addition, Bell Sensei has also received his 'kyoshi' instructor's license from Sugawara Sensei allowing advanced students to train in the distinguished Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu. Traditional Aikido of Santa Rosa is also affiliated with the Hombu Dojo in Japan, the world headquarters of Aikido. Black belt awards are given by Sugawara Sensei and officially registered with the Aikikai Foundation in Japan. In addition to adult classes, Traditional Aikido of Santa Rosa has a children's program. The instruction in this program focuses on the fundamentals of the art. The instruction helps to build self-confidence, focus, and companionship, while teaching the students to treat everyone with respect. This self-confidence and focus can expand to many other aspects in the child's life. Because of the defensive nature of Aikido, it will also teach the student how to feel confident in any situation, but not promote an aggressive resolution to it. It is an excellent way to help them diffuse the growing issue of "bullying".
