TC Fire's curriculum was created by merging 50 years of research from the best clubs in the world. We use a combination of scientific research, classroom sessions, and practical field work, based on elite academy programs around the world who have consistently developed world class players. The principle aim of the club's methodology is individual player skill and tactical development. To truly develop an elite player involves a long range plan starting at the youngest age possible. Elite Academy development takes time and although a player may appear to have made tremendous strides overnight when boiled down to it's core one finds a series of smaller steps mastered over a longer period of time. We call this Deliberate Practice. Giving players a foundation to build upon is one of the factors that make an elite player. Not everyone is destined for greatness, but greatness can only be achieved if a solid foundation of skills are developed and those skills are rarely if ever developed over night. To do this a proper curriculum must be created that is based on age and addresses the physical, technical, tactical areas of development needed. This plan utilizes a combination of individual and team training that includes extensive work on psychomotor skills, coordination, endurance, muscle memory movement, flexibility, and is rooted in game specific requirements and based on the age of the players being trained. For example, a U8 player will focus on developing psychomotor skills and coordination (most often with a ball), which are areas best suited for a player of this physical and mental development. The goal is to maximize the full potential of every player in all areas (technical, tactical, physical and mental) at every single stage of development giving them the ability and confidence to grow as a player their entire career.
