While USTMA's black belt program focuses on physical conditioning and learning the art and practice of tae kwon do, a strong emphasis is placed on mental focus and discipline. These strengths help our student athletes excel in school and extra-curricular activities, but Grand Master Choi also emphasizes the value of community service. Teaching students the value of what it means to give back to one's community, in the form of service and/or donations is an important part of the school program. Students are taught the value of what it means to contribute to the local community - whether it be washing cars to raise funds for a community walk, or serving food at a local shelter. The intent is to ensure that students have a sense of community involvement and realize their own community responsibility. To this end, USTMA participates in a number of community activities each year and is thrilled when our student athletes bring their own personal causes to the school to ask for support. In the past we've attended the Relay for Life campaign by the American Cancer Society and supported students in their own walks for Juvenile Diabetes.
