At Waco Aikido and Self Defense we prepare for the potential encounter with someone who wishes to harm us. That person may be armed and may have help. Once in a conflict, you must respond. The response you choose can have significant implications for that moment, and possibly for the rest of your life. The best way to respond is to do it naturally or instinctively but only if your instincts have first been trained and conditioned. Each of us chooses either to ignore the possibility of attack or to learn how to address those situations through regular training. Prepare ahead of time. Train before, rather than after, finding yourself in a situation. You may not get a second chance. Learn how to blend with your attacker's energy and use his momentum against him to put him on the ground. Don't trade punches with someone who is stronger and more violent than you, and don't wrestle on the ground with him.
