Note:
My son was involved in their Karate Kamp 07 and at the time we felt he was too young to continue in regular classes. (he was just turned 5) The whole camp experience was great for him. In just a week we saw his confidence soar and he seemed so mature! We

As I hear more and more from parents about their experiences at other schools, I have come to realize that my philosophy is a very different one from most. I believe in running a disciplined class, yet manage to reach students on their level. I have even been known to crack a joke or two, but don't let that get out! My personal style has more of a coaching flavor. I will push students to be the best they can be, but with a caring attitude. I believe that students should want to come to class, and that it is counter-productive to force a child into something they are unhappy with. There must be an element of fun infused with the discipline of the physical, so that they look forward to returning, time after time. I try to remember that they are kids first, and "martial arts students" second. I like to end classes with a fun element, every time, so that the last thing my students leave with is a smile. I am focused on developing the whole person, not just the technician, and not just in class. My students are taught to be a black belt in all areas of their lives, not just wear a black belt. In other words, a Black Belt is a philosophy, not just a piece of material worn around the waist. It stands for integrity, excellence, and character, and should be exhibited even when the belt itself is absent. My philosophy for my school is that it is not a classroom with students and a teacher, but rather an entity all unto itself. We must all complement each other. Because I have never relied on advertising, my promotion has always been through word of mouth. I am especially proud to have been able to have grown that way throughout the years, because it means that my parents and students have been pleased enough to recommend me to others. My students and parents are committed, as I am, to growing our schools, because this means that we are able to extend a very positive thing into the lives of many. Sharing this experience is probably the most rewarding part of the martial arts, and I am proud that the members of my schools understand and practice this.
