Details:
At Hi Yah Tae Kwon Do, our primary art is Tae Kwon Do, but we also add other martial arts to build well rounded students and Black Belts. We teach I.T.F. (International Tae Kwon Do Federation) forms, American Kempo for self defense, and some Karate is shown in our weapons. To earn a Black Belt we also require that each student be able to teach what they know. A Black Belt must be able to pass on their art to others. Nothing is given out without 100% effort from our students. We have also set out to improve the lives of our students by creating a sense of family within the school. Hugs are often given, and our instructors will do anything to help our family; martial arts related or not. Our younger students are given practice tasks each month to ensure that they are not only practicing martial arts, but also practicing to become better people. Included in these tasks are things such as helping new students at their schools, lending a hand to someone in need without asking reimbursement, working on being courteous, or even writing a letter to Grandma to show her she is loved. As a school we are ready and eager to help out the community in any way we can, having raised over $1000 for a local after school program, and over $10,000 for the American Cancer Society . We practice what we preach, thus creating an environment where our students can learn by example, rather than merely what we ask of them.
