Details:
Frampton's Soo Bahk Do of New Windsor, New York, has been in continuous operation for 20 years at the same location. The studio has been under the direction of Edward Frampton Sa Bom Nim for the last fourteen years. The studio, instructors and the students are members of the U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan federation. This membership makes the martial arts that is taught and learned in the studio unique. While the Federation has only been in existence since 1975, the Soo Bahk Do art dates back over 2,000 years ago. The art was developed in China and imported in Korea. A literal translation of Soo Bahk Do is "Hand, Strike, Way". The late Grand Master Hwang Kee redefined the art in 1957 and developed Soo Bahk Do into the art that it is today. Why is the Federation important? The development of the U.S. Federation ensures that martial arts instruction meets specific and exacting standards. Thus, the instruction in California is the same as in New York. Students are required to meet specific Federation standards for advancement. Currently, the Federation is headed by HC Hwang Kwan Jang Nim. HC Hwang Kwan Jang Nim has been inducted in the Black Belt magazine Hall of Fame. Frampton's Soo Bahk Do is one of the largest and most succesful studios in the Federation. Edward Frampton Sa Bom Nim is a 6th degree black belt who has been studying and teaching for decades. Under his direction, all instructors at the studio are required to meet not only Federation standards, but also his exacting standards. In addition to Frampton Sa Bom Nim, the studio currently has ten U.S. Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan Federation certified instructors. The most important aspect of Soo Bahk Do is that it is for EVERYONE. Every Soo Bahk Do practioner, such as the men, women and children in Frampton's Karate receive tangible and intangible benefits from the support of the instructors as well as their loved ones. Such support is evident in the testimonials of those that are a part of Frampton's Karate. Frampton Sa Bom Nim's dedication to his students is unsurpassed. As a hobby, Frampton Sa Bom Nim is also an avid photographer, mountain biker and private pilot. Here are some of his artwork in display. Soo Bahk Do karate emphasizes such characteristics as Courage, Endurance, Discipline, Respect, and Honesty. The art is appropriate for all ages of men and women. Techniques in self defense, Soo Bahk Do forms, and sparring are covered during the class sessions. As a practioner of the art, one will learn many key aspects of the martial art such as patience, relaxation, endurance and power.
