Advisor of the Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do GoshinKai and the Ryukyuan Kobudo International. Instruction is under the supervision of Grand Master Frank Van Lenten, 10th degree Black Belt, the highest ranked American in traditional Okinawan Karate, as recognized by the Okinawan Karate-Do Association. In addition to Goju Ryu, he holds Master level ranks in Shorin and Isshin Okinawan Karate styles. He is retired from the Marine Corps with over 20 years of service, which includes serving as a Hand-to-hand Combat and Bayonnet Fighting Instructor. Grand Master Van Lenten has over 45 years experience in martial arts. He is a true pioneer and has achieved legendary fame in the martial arts. In 1984, he was the guest of honor of the Governor of Okinawa in recognition of his propagation of Okinawan Karate. Over the years, he has received many honors in the martial arts. He was featured on the cover of Official Karate magazine and in 1986, was inducted into their Legion of Honor, Karate's Hall of Fame. As a former top ranked competitor in both the US and Japan, Grand Master Van Lenten is the only American to ever win a championship in Okinawa in both Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring). He was considered one of the most powerful Karate fighters in the world.
