Details:
Yee's Hung Ga Kung Fu Academy is located at 197 Henry Street, in the heart of New York City's Chinatown. The Academy is founded by Master Frank Yee (Yee Chi Wai) in 1973. This Chinatown branch is under the supervision of Sifu Joseph Demundo. There are Yee’s Hung Ga Kung Fu branches in Toisan, China, Europe, Canada and the United States. We teach Hung Ga, ( also known as Hung Gar or Hung Kuen), a southern style of Chinese kung fu, well known for its balance in creating a healthy mind and body, as well as its practicality for self-defense applications. Hung Ga makes use of the classical Five Animals of Shaolin (Tiger, Dragon, Crane, Snake, and Leopard), as well as the theories of the Five Elements (Earth, Water, Wood, Metal, and Fire). Advanced stages of training include the understanding of how to combine the Five Animals and Five Elements. The program involves conditioning the body, as well as learning multiple hand combinations that pertain to street and competitive tournament sparring. It also includes stance and foot work for strength and speed that will be the foundation for learning self-defense.
