Note:
this dojo is very different from large commercial dojos i have seen. as such it offers a lot of personal attention and the focus is on teaching real techniques rather than on making a profit. the dojo space is beautiful and the students are friendly. some
Details:
We are a non-profit martial arts organization. We provide Jujitsu classes in a beautiful dojo, conveniently located in Manhattan. Eizan-ryu Jujitsu is a martial art in which the student learns to use an attacker's strength and momentum against him; this enables one to successfully defend against the attack of a larger, stronger person. A wide variety of techniques are used -- strikes, throws, joint locks, foot sweeps, pins, chokes, projections, pressure points -- with the object being to control the attacker and put him on the ground. Ukemi, the ability to fall safely, is taught and is strongly emphasized. If you are interested, please observe a class or two. Try to watch an entire class from beginning to end, if at all possible, so that you have a good idea of what to expect. Then, feel free to try a couple classes. You may take up to two free trial classes. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to meet the instructors, check out our facilities, and learn some of our techniques, and see if our dojo is right for you. There's absolutely no obligation. You can call us at (212) 260-0927 to set up an appointment for your trial class, or email us and we will definitely contact you. Separate dressing areas for men and women, as well as shower facilities, are available for student use. If you do not own a gi (uniform), we can loan you one for your trial class. Once you decide to become a member, you just pay your dues and registration fee, purchase a gi, and begin your training.
