After-School Youth Karate, Evening Youth Karate, Evening Adult Karate & Self Protection, Lil' Dragons Kid's Karate (ages 4-6), Ultimate Weapons/Kobudo, & Sport Grappling. Your child will be a rockstar after inviting his/her friends for a Karate Birthday full of kicking, punching, games and more! The Self-Defense taught at Family Karate - Top Mount Martial Arts is very practical and modern! We are the only Missouri school who is certified to teach the self-defense technology that was developed by Bill Kipp, called FAST Defense. It's a very dynamic set of skills used for self-protection. From assertive non-violent conflict resolution, to physical tactics and strategies for defending yourself. Let's face it - of 100 confrontations our kids might have over the course of their school years, maybe 2-3 might actually become violent. This is why non-violent, assertive strategies are taught to help them deal with the confrontations. Teaching them to block a punch is fine, but far more often they need to know how to deal with the confrontations that do not get physical. Another benefit with our school is that PARENTS TRAIN FREE! Any parent of a youth student can train in our Adult Karate & Self Protection program free of charge. In this program, the curriculum is the same as the kids (which really helps the whole family learn & practice together). This free karate is our commitment to family. This has been very popular, and its allowed a lot of interested parents the ability to join where possibly before they could not have done so. Our school is home to over 125 students from West Plains and the surrounding communities. Come and let your Family give our Family a try. You will be very glad you did.
