Detail: Sarah's School of Martial Arts offers classes for all ages, from 'Little Dragons' (3 year olds) to teens. Sarah Donahue, a 2nd-Degree Black Belt, teaches Shotokan Karate, kick-boxing, ground-fighting and self-defense with humor and style in a large, well-equipped space with a separate observation area (and wi-fi) for parents. Classes for younger children emphasize movement, structure, social skills and the beginnings of discipline. Sessions are punctuated by games (like dodge-ball) that teach awareness and agility. Achievement is rewarded with small awards and rank advancement. Classes for older children continue games, but add more emphasis on complex, multi-step patterns. Black Belt classes emphasize defense and conditioning. Once the student has received their black belt there is the possibility of them becoming a junior instructor at the dojo. We offer free introductory lessons, and any necessary equipment is included at beginning levels.
