Detail: We are fortunate to have direct lineage to O-Sensei, the founder of Aikido. Our instructors were senior students of the late Kanai Sensei, who learned directly from the founder as an Uchi-deshi (live-in student), prior to coming to the U.S. Kanai Sensei was instrumental in establishing Aikido in the U.S. and was a leader of the United States Aikido Federation (USAF). Our Chief Instructor, David Halprin, studied with Kanai Sensei for 27 years, and is a certified Shihan (highest level instructor) of the USAF and Aikido World Headquarters in Japan. Our Assistant Chief Instructor is Barbara Britton, 6th dan, Shidoin, who studied with Kanai Sensei for 26 years and is a member of the Board of the US Aikido Federation.
