Detail: Shobu Aikido of the Berkshires was founded in 1997 by Satoru Sato Sensei in Great Barrington, MA. Sato Sensei 5th Dan, studied Aikido with William Gleason Sensei from 1985 to 1996 at Shobu Aikido of Boston. In 1993, Sato Sensei returned to Japan for six months to study with Takeda Sensei at Shonan Aikido Kenkyu Kai. Shobu Aikido of the Berkshires is Affiliated with Aikido School of Ueshiba (ASU) under the direction of Mitsugi Saotome Shihan. Aikido is a martial art which was created by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1967). Aikido training purifies the body, mind and spirit.
