Detail: Denver Karate Academy (DKA) was established in November of 1997 by Scott, Gwen and Stefanie Flowers. The emphasis of DKA is improved discipline, self esteem, self confidence and mental focus. We build confidence and character by providing you with control over your body and an ability to stand up to negative peer pressure and other intimidating situations. The movements in our system develop coordination and increase strength, flexibility and control. The awarding of higher levels of belts gives the students a sense of achievement and accomplishment. The importance of this is that it develops the principle of goal setting. We work on the students immediate, short term and long term goals which the students can apply to other areas of life. The foundation of DKA is its self defense value. We are very careful to teach the student that Martial Arts is not to be used outside of the karate school in any manner other than self defense. The result is a confident student, one who does not need to bully or show off to others. Most importantly, we try to honor and glorify God by taking care of the resources He entrusts to us, and by making a positive influence on each person who comes in contact with our business.
