Detail: Bellingham Academy of Self Defense (BASD) is an organization dedicated to teaching traditional martial arts with an emphasis on Goju-Ryu Karate-Do and the Japanese sword. We are Bellingham’s original dojo started in 1965 by Sensei Duane Sammons. Our three lead instructors each have over 30 years of experience in the martial arts and volunteer their time to teach the skills that have the potential to save your life. It is our mission to hone our students both mentally and physically thus enabling them to handle the daily challenges of life more successfully.
