Detail: Luis De La Rosa was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He arrived at New York City, New York in 1967. In 1975, he received his Black Belt I Shotokan and in 1977, he joined the United States Marine Corps. In 1980, he became a Drill Instructor, and in 1982 Mr. De La Rosa was assigned to Marine Security Forces as the Operations and Training Director, responsible for developing, implementing and training hundreds of personnel. The most demanding training exercises were: Night Stick handling, Apprehension procedures, Defense Tactics, Close Combat and Hand-to-hand defensive/protective measures. Mr. De La Rosa also attended the “SWAT†basic course with the San Diego Police Department. In 1984, Mr. De La Rosa received his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and later competed in the Navy/Marine Corps Tae Kwon Do Championships where he won a Silver Medal. From 1995 to 1997, Mr. De La Rosa was the Director and Guard Chief for the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California. He was responsible for managing, directing, and conducting training, on a daily basis in: Weapons handling, Civil Disturbance/take downs and apprehension, Deadly Force, Night Stick procedures, Sexual harassment, Suicide Prevention/Warning Signs, Communicational Skills in defusing threat and escalation of threat, and was the Co-Founder of S.A.R.A.P, (Sexual Assault/Rape Awareness and prevention) measures. In addition, Mr. De La Rosa has been teaching Tae Kwon Do aboard military facilities for over 18 years. He organized and judged the selection of the U.S. Marine Corps Tae Kwon Do Team, which represented the Marine Corps World Wide Team in 1996. Mr. De La Rosa has dedicated his life to help others. He has been teaching Discipline for over 28 years and has been teaching in Southern California since 1982. Currently, Master De La Rosa is the president of World Amateur Martial Arts Association. Additionally, he teachers Tae Kwon Do as physical education at Nubia Leadership Academy.
