Serving my country in the Marine Corps was a blessing for me. I was able to travel to many countries and study a wide variety of Martial Arts. This was made possible by my rich uncle...Uncle Sam. These countries include Okinawa, Japan, Korea and the Philippines. The adventure and awesome knowledge gained is priceless to me. A gift I have devoted my lifetime to sharing with others. In viewing and comparing them, I recognized the many similarities in the different styles. Each style had it's great points, what one lacked the other made up for. No one style possesses all the answers. Many martial artists, who have not studied in the Far East, may claim that their style is the best and the one and only. In actual street combat, you need to know a variety of fighting techniques. Most of the time a fight ends up on the ground... what do I do now? You better find out! When I blended all the different styles, it made a great difference in our modern day self-defense for street defense. This is known as Cross Training. As a Port Arthur Police Officer, I found out first hand what worked and what did not work on the street. In 1955 Port Arthur, Texas was a tough sea port town that was wide open! anything went, under the table. I just traded my Marine uniform for a Police uniform. I decided right then that I wanted to give our students the best knowledge for our present day self-defense. We have de-mystified the Mystery that the black belt makes the person. In reality, it is the person with character, application of martial arts knowledge, self-control, discipline and confidence that makes a REAL Black Belt.
