Detail: American Karate Academy of Duncanville is a family oriented, full service, martial arts facility. Children and families are our specialty with classes available for individuals ages 3 and up. American Karate Academy of Duncanville was opened in 1991 by brother & sister team Dale Wilderman & Kristi Shawky. The facility is over 6000 sq ft and accomodates programs including Tae Kwon Do for ages 3 and up, Boxing for ages 6 and up, Flips-n-Kicks Floor Gymnastics, Fitness Kickboxing, Women's Self-Defense, a fully equipped Personal Training Studio, and their competition team - TEAM ELITE. We are not just another after-school activity. Basketball, soccer, and baseball are all great activities for children, but AKA offers more than just a physical sport. We offer students personal development which leads to personal empowerment. Our exciting yet disciplined classes teach children focus and discipline, which leads to improved learning ability. Learning builds a sense of accomplishment and, with each new accomplishment, self-confidence grows. This confidence is the first step to your child's empowerment! As your child begins to develop self-confidence, we are able to instill values such as respect, courtesy, honesty, perseverance, and integrity. These character traits have been the foundation of martial arts training for hundreds of years. Furthermore, your child will develop perseverance that will help in overcoming life's challenges, succeeding in the face of adversity, and setting and reaching goals. The physical and mental benefits that come from our training are a foundation that leads to success in academics, sports, and social endeavors. We help to develop the confidence and the character to make right decisions when faced with negative peer pressure or with a tough situation.
