Detail: Victory Martial Arts, located in Brookings, SD and in Sioux Falls, SD, is South Dakota's leader in traditional Tae Kwon Do, Kumdo, and Hapkido training. Students in our program not only learn self-defense; they also learn respect, discipline, and confidence while gaining stamina, endurance and strength. Tae Kwon Do is the Korean art of kicking and punching. Not only is Tae Kwon Do an Olympic Sport, it is also the most popular form of martial art in the world. At Victory Martial Arts, we teach the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF) style of Tae Kwon Do while maintaining the traditional roots of the art. The Korean art of Kumdo means "the way of the sword." This style of fighting is equivalent to Japanese Kendo. Students begin with a hardwood sword (mokkeum) and a bamboo sword (jukdo) and progress to a real sharp sword (jingeom). Hapkido contains both long and close range fighting techniques to utilize pressure point strikes and joint locks. This form of self-defense sometimes calls for weapons, such as short stick, cane, rope, nunchucku, sword, and staff. Victory Martial Arts is currently offering classes for children and adults. We offer classes Monday through Friday
