Detail: Ronin Kenpo Karate is a dynamic art comprised of Kenpo and Shotokan Karate. The name Ronin is derived from the story of the 47 Ronin which recounts the most famous case involving the samurai code of honor, Bushido. With much embellishment, this true story was popularized in Japanese culture as emblematic of the loyalty, sacrifice, persistence and honor all good people should preserve in their daily lives. Ronin Kenpo Karate seeks to maintain the integrity of Nick Cerio’s Kenpo while passing on the teachings of Professor Cerio to new generations of Martial Art Students. Grandmaster Cerio was world renowned for his proficiency in numerous Martial Art styles. Three generations of Martial Arts training have been passed along from him to Kyoshi Gomes providing Ronin Kenpo Karate instructors with a level of knowledge and expertise that is just not found anywhere. Ronin Kenpo Karate has now added the oriental weaponry of Komushin Ryu Kenjutsu, a blend of old and new teachings of the sword as taught to Soke Wali M. Islam while in Japan in the 1960s. It combines the attributes of Komushin Ryu Jujitsu (no mind) and Ronin Kenpo (assertive self defense) It consists of Kendo to warm the muscles, Bokken (wooden sword) for practical application, Battojutsu (drawing & cutting), Kenjutsu (sword drawn), and Tameshirgiri (cutting).
