Detail: Effectiveness & Efficiency. These are the primary goals of Ving Tsun Kung Fu (commonly pronounced and traditionally known as "Wing Chun"). Bruce Lee trained in Wing Chun Kung Fu from age 13–18 under Hong Kong Grand Master Yip Man, who also trained Moy Yat, the founder of our school. The legendary origin of the fighting style tells that it began in the early 1700's in China with a woman named Yim Wing Chun (whose name means "beautiful springtime" or "everlasting spring"). She had been inappropriately pursued by a local ruffian, with whom she had no interest - she was already engaged to a man named Leung Bok Chau. The young woman asked Ng Mui, a Shaolin nun, to teach her kung fu, and the style they developed enabled Yim Wing Chun to defeat the bully. Yim married Leung and taught him the fighting style which he named after her.
