Detail: Chief Master Larry Wells, Sr., 8th Degree Black Belt and his wife Master Denise Wells, 6th Degree Black Belt over 30 years of experience in Martial Arts instruction. Chief Master Larry Wells, Sr. has studied the martial arts since the age of 5yrs old and has taught martial arts in the North Tulsa community for 30 years. He is a Master in the art of Tae Kwon Do, a Korean form of martial arts, and he also holds 1st Degree Black Belt in the Japanese Art of GoJu Ryu and 1st Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do. He blends the Chinese style of Wing Chun and Eskrima/Kali fighting which is a Filipino martial art to enhance his self defense techniques. Chief Master Wells is an excellent practitioner of self-defense and conducts various "safety and awareness" seminars to civic and church organizations, as well as school aged children. He and his wife, Master Denise, who is a sixth degree Black Belt, a fitness instructor and Certified Personal Trainer, operate L K Wells Martial Arts & Fitness in Tulsa. They, along with their staff of highly qualified Senior Black Belt instructors have impacted and touched the lives of "many" throughout their years of teaching. They have hosted the Whirlwind Classic Martial Arts Tournament for the past 17 years, and have seen it grow into the largest tournament of its kind in Oklahoma. Chief Master Wells has received countless Merit awards, Competition Trophies and Special Recognition honors for his achievements and dedication. He and Mrs. Wells are 2007 Black Belt Hall Of Fame inductees presented by Mr. Joe Corley, hosted at the prestigious Battle of Atlanta Tournament. His vision is to produce leaders in all areas of life, to help each individual realize their potentials and to develop and promote positive role modeling using the vehicle of Martial Arts, and the tools of good sportsmanship. Chief Master Wells' motto's are: "If I Can See It, I can do it"; "Confidence in MYSELF!" and, "Hard Work Pays Off, ALL THE TIME!" The school slogan is We Train Champions and this hold true whenever Team Whirlwind competes. All students are expected to be good role models and FAMILY ideals are the standard.
