Detail: Tai-Zen is a system of self-defense created in 1960 by Howard Tague, based on the principles of non-aggressive defense. We believe that one has the right to defend themselves or their loved ones from physical harm without having to resort to changing oneself into an aggressive attacker, which may go against an individuals personal character trait. As a result of this approach an individual trained in the Tai-Zen system remains unassuming until confronted by an attack, then produces a highly skilled ability for the sole purpose of protecting oneself, or loved ones from physical harm. This is not a sport. Tai-Zen is non-competitive and is geared towards those that are seeking a reality based self-defense system which is straight forward and effective. In the society we live in we must all be constantly aware of the legal considerations that go along within the course of defending oneself. Because of this reality, Tai-Zen instructors approach a confrontation with this in mind by keeping the physical response to a threat within the legal guidelines of what constitues actual defense.
