Detail: Kyokushin - Oyama styles incorporate the main principles of Goju-ryu, Shotokan, Judo, Ju Jitsu, and Muay Thai into one complete system for fighting, conditioning, and training. Traditional karate styles are not just physical, but also, mental and spiritual. It can be used and of great value, by men, women, and children of all ages. To reach full potential of karate the mental and spiritual aspects must be developed along with the physical. The philosophy behind our style of karate is to develop ourselves more than just physically, but to also instill confidence and build character. Some people have good natural coordination and others do not - This does not matter. If you do your best no matter what your natural abilities are, someday you will realize how to control your body, but more importantly, how to control your mind and spirit. If you are interested in learning a martial art we encourage you to examine the different styles available to you before you decide. We believe that our open traditional style of Karate truly offers a person all the necessary ingredients to improve, grow, and obtain the goals which we set. We have many talented instructors, great students, and friends at Shihou-Ken Karate that welcome your visit.
