Detail: The Martial Arts Institute has applied for a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization status from the Internal Revenue Service and is incorporated as a non-profit organization in the state of New Mexico. "The mission of Martial Arts Institute of New Mexico is to value the diversity of it’s student/members, and provide a supportive environment conducive for personal growth. With a focus on mentoring youth, we will accomplish this by providing a holistic approach to mind, body, and spirit training, the study of effective methods of conflict resolution and self-defense. With mutual support, we will develop positive, productive, and safe members of the world community." It seems that nowadays, everyone seems to propose that a particular martial art or "combative sport" is the "ultimate" in self-defense, fighting, combat, etc." We make no such claim. We are however a serious organization of martial arts students and teachers, with a sincere interest in the welfare of our student/members. We believe that the practice and study of martial arts can have a long lasting and positive effect on people's lives. We strive to provide the very best education regarding martial arts in general, and as a healthy lifestyle. Various forms of personal defense are examined along with conflict resolution, Zen meditation, martial art history and culture, and proper breathing techniques for health and wellness. Aikido as practiced by our dojo is "Budo" a comprehensive martial system that emphasizes the positive health benefits of a martial arts lifestyle, a philosophy of non-violence, coupled with streetwise effective self-defense. The "Institute" is open to any sincere traditional martial artist regardless of any other affiliations, race, creed, and/or religion.
