Detail: Aikido, or the way to spiritual harmony, is a Japanese martial art developed in the 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba, known as O'Sensei, or Great Teacher. This gentle, yet powerful martial art has it roots in Jujitsu, Judo, classical Japanese sword and spear. Its movements are of a circular, flowing nature, making it aesthetically pleasing as well as highly effective. Aikido's techniques use an opponent's momentum and energy in order to dissipate an attack, making Aikido an ideal method of defending oneself without violence, even against someone larger and stronger. People of all skill levels are welcome regardless of physical limitation. You are never too old to learn Aikido.
