Detail: Bond Street Dojo (incorporated as New York Aikido Society, Inc.) is a not-for-profit organization established as a place for learning and practice of the martial art of aikido. We are governed by a board of directors elected from and by the membership. Bond Street Dojo was founded in 1973 by Terry Dobson and Ken Nisson. After their departure in 1980, the dojo leadership was established under Chris Jordan and Paul Kang, and we are led today by Chris Sensei. We are affiliated with the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (ASU) and World Aikido Headquarters at The Aikikai Hombu Dojo, Tokyo, Japan. We train under Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, ASU's founder and chief instructor, and Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan. Our dojo continues to foster the dedication and joy in practice instilled by our founders and chief instructors. We take pride in carrying on the tradition of the dojo, not only as a place for serious aikido training and discipline, but also as a place with a sense of belonging and concern for each other.
