Detail: Doug Armstrong's Mountain View Karate Centers in Hickory, North Carolina. We offer martial arts classes conveniently located in Foothills Gymnastics. Please contact our facility to set up a free trial class! MVKC instructs students in the art of American Ching Sai Do.This style of martial arts was founded by Sensei Doug Armstrong in 1995 and combines elements of Tae Kwon Do, Go-Ju and small circle Ju-Jitsu. During training emphasis is placed on self defense, kata, breaking, point sparring, grappling, flexibility and strength conditioning. Although physical training is very important, mental training must not be neglected. Self-confidence, self-discipline and respect for others is emphasized during classes. Students are encouraged to practice these attributes outside of the dojo and within their every day lives as well. Mountain View Karate Center is home to Team MVKC which boasts 33 world champions in many different classes and divisions including kata, breaking, point sparring and weapons. In addition, we are the host dojo for the annual East Coast Sparring Championships and the Southeast's largest tournament, the Mt. View Open Karate Championships.
