Detail: Aikido is an effective form of self defense developed in the mid 20th century by O' Sensei Morihei Ueshiba from the open hand art of Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu in the Samurai tradition, kenjutsu, and many other martial traditions integrated by O' Sensei. Often called the Art of Peace: It is a study in the harmonious resolution of conflict (in all of its forms) without fighting back. Much of the training is to allow the fight within us to fall away while developing a powerful stance in the world wherein one can ideally become undefeatable physically, mentally, and spiritually. The study is as much a method for this self examination as it is a means of subduing even the most violent physical attack. At Two Rivers Aikido we train for martial effectiveness with non-violent response to conflict.
