Detail: Northland Tae Kwon Do instructors are certified through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF). Northland Tae Kwon Do & Kumdo was established in 1992. We focus strongly on the tenets of Tae Kwon Do (Courtesy, Integrity, Self Control, Perseverance, and Indomitable Spirit) understanding that we need to use these characteristics daily while hopefully never needing to use the self defense we learn and practice. Classes are divided according to rank and age. Kumdo (art of the Sword) Instruction was added to our program in 2002. Kumdo helps the students refine their focus and skill. While one can train in another martial art understanding that if they are hit by an opponent they maybe able to continue to defend his or her self. Kumdo has to be trained with the focus that there is no second chance. Master Scott Peterson is the founder, owner, and head instructor at Northland Tae Kwon Do & Kumdo. He holds the ranks of 5th degree black belt in (WTF) Tae Kwon Do, 3rd degree black belt in Hap Ki Do, and 2nd degree black belt in Kumdo. Master Scott Peterson also holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as B.A. degrees in Psychology and Applied Psychology. As well as teaching tae kwon do he also has over 20 years of experience counseling children.
