Detail: Sensei Nyblom started her Uechi-Ryu training in February of 1991 with Sensei Julius Scott. In July of 1992 Nyblom tested and received the rank of Sankyu (brown belt). In December of 1995 Sensei Nyblom tested for and was awarded the rank of Shodan (1st degree black belt). While continuing her Uechi-Ryu training Sensei Nyblom also practiced a little Judo, Jujitsu and self-defense. In February of 1997 Sensei Nyblom left Sensei Scott to further her studies in Uechi-Ryu Karate. In June of 1997 she traveled to Antioch, CA with two other Uechi-Ryu practitioners to meet and train with Master Alan Dollar. During her visit to CA she had the opportunity to meet and train with Master Kiyohide Shinjo and other Okinawans visiting the United States. Due to the long distance from Minnesota to California Master Dollar suggested that Sensei Nyblom contact Master James Foley in Missouri for further training. In November of 1998 Sensei Nyblom traveled to St. Louis, MO to meet Master Foley. Since that time Sensei Nyblom has established the Cloquet Kenyukai Uechi-Ryu Karate Dojo and instructs under Master Foley.
