Salt Lake Community Action Program (CAP) opened its first Head Start program in the summer of 1965, with 34 students in two classrooms. By September of 1966 the program was deemed so successful Salt Lake CAP was funded to run the program during the school year. Our Head Start Program service facts include: We serve over 2400 families during the school year, our service area includes all of Salt Lake and Tooele Counties. Our classrooms are located throughout this service area varying in classroom style from a Head Start Center, which holds over 400 children to single site classrooms in public schools or community partnership centers, we partner with school districts for special services such as food, special needs support, play areas, and other educational programs. Each district's partnership varies based on the needs of both programs and available resources, we offer half-day, single-session with extended day, and home-based programs.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake has been serving youth and their families for more than 36 years. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake focuses on serving girls and boys between the ages of 6 -18 with special initiatives for teens, gender inclusion and family involvement. We offer after-school programs addressing educational achievement, career exploration, drug and alcohol avoidance, health and fitness, gang and violence prevention, cultural exploration, leadership development and community service. Our Youth Development Strategy promotes the development of young people by instilling a sense of competence, a sense of usefulness, a sense of belonging and a sense of power or influence. When this strategy is fully implemented, self-esteem is enhanced and an environment is created which helps boys and girls achieve their full potential.

Camp Snowbird is a state licensed child care facility. We specialize in providing quality childcare in a unique mountain setting. Our well-trained staff take pride in the quality of loving, nurturing care they offer to Snowbird's youngest guests. You will find our nursery a fun, caring environment. Ratios do not exceed 3 to 1. Nursery children need to bring two changes of clothing, diapers, wipes, special toy or blanket, food for infants not eating table food and outdoor clothing. For ages 7 years'12 years. 24 hour advance reservation is required. Each day includes fun indoor and outdoor activities as well as snacks and lunch. Activities include (varying by day) arts and crafts, swimming in heated pools (child must be able to swim on their own), outdoor play, iceskating (conditions permitting), movies and cooking. Please make sure your child has a bathing suit and outdoor clothing. Age appropriate activities, games, music, arts, crafts, outdoor play, snacks, lunch and quiet time. Ratios are kept at 4 to 1 for 13-24 months and 5 to 1 for 25-36 months.
