Detail: Our Afterschool Program, A.C.E.S (Academic, Character Education and SPARK-a physical fitness program), provides a safe and enriching environment for children in kindergarten through 5th grade, Monday through Friday until 5:30 p.m. We approach child development in a holistic manner by providing extracurricular activities that not only improve academic achievements but also enhance physical well-being and social skills, all of which are critical in the development of a healthy, well-rounded and successful adult. Our after school program provides a healthy snack, and dinner, homework assistance and extra curricula activities that are otherwise inaccessible to the kids we serve including fishing, ballet, computers, music, etc. Children who are struggling academically in school often demonstrate negative behaviors which can be attributed to frustration or fear of looking “stupid” in front of their peers so we launched an onsite tutoring program. For those children who are suffering academically and displaying bad behavior in school, our Family Support Specialists and Learning Specialist work in tandem to address both issues at the same time. These services are offered onsite at no additional charge for the children enrolled in our Afterschool Program. Our tutoring program is managed by a 30-year veteran in supplemental learning programs. She is responsible for designing individualized educational strategies and keeping the communication lines open between child, parent and school teachers. Our goal is to ensure that our children not only attain satisfactory grades but exceed expectations in school. Tutoring is a year-round program and is open to any child enrolled in the Afterschool Program or Summer Camp.
