Detail: Ken Shin Kan Karate Do is located in the heart of Pinecrest and has been family owned and operated since 1984, with 2012 marking its 20th year anniversary in Pinecrest. A style of karate originating from Okinawa, Ken Shin Kan has resided in Miami for two out of the four generations our style has gone through since our founder, Sensei Seiichi Akamine. Now headed by Sensei Cristobal Gidi, whose father Alfredo Gidi established the Miami dojo, Ken Shin Kan still maintains a solid foundation built on traditional ways while working towards innovation and progress. We offer learning programs for both adults and children, tailored to best suit the needs of the particular age group. Our adult classes emphasize physical fitness and flexibility, and work towards student development in the physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of the individual. On the other hand, our youth program focuses on building coordination, discipline, and emotional maturity through karate. While Ken Shin Kan is excellent for learning proper self-defense as well as for developing physical health, our main goal is more profound. On a larger scheme, our school focuses on self-development and the pursuit of perfection through the medium of martial arts.
