Detail: Our school has been teaching weapons free self defense since1980. Students are taught to defend in an powerfully defensive way. In class contact is allowed only for blocking techniques. This teaches students to have self control, and to only strike someone as a last resort. We fight only to stop our attacker and not become like our attacker by killing or maiming them. By teaching focus, concentration and expanding attention span; we help build confident, focused and kind people who know how to cooperate with others, and be tough as nails when necessary. Earning ranks through honest effort instills self worth, a healthy self image. People who have this are seldom targets of attackers and they are ready and able to deal with them if need be. One of our motto’s is ‘fighting is a last resort’. We learn to fight, so we won’t have to. Over coming an attacker begins with techniques that also teach us about understanding ourselves.
