Detail: Long's Shotokan, located in Independence Missouri. Sensei Mark Long is a two time world champion in the World Sport Karate Federation and a Team USA Gold Medalist. Sensei Long holds black belt ranks in several forms of martial arts including Shotokan Karate, Shin Shin Jujitsu, Judo and Tae Kwon Do. He has been serving our community through his Karate Academy since 1980 as well as running before and after school programs here in our community. Shotokan Karate is a linear fighting style with the core of our martial arts curriculum focusing on punches, strikes and kicks with application on self-defense situations. Our ranking system integrates techniques from Jujitsu, Aikido and other disciplines for an all around well balanced self-defense program. If you are looking to just begin martial arts for self-defense and add confidence or as a commitment to train to go to the next level and compete, we are happy to help you meet those goals. Our staff and black belts are here to answer your questions and make you feel comfortable and part of the family.
