Detail: Ashihara Karate Club homepage! We are a traditional mixed martial arts club or 'all around' karate system that teaches the Jissen, or real fighting karate of Japan. Ashihara karate is based on the Kyokushin karate style of Japan. We differ from other karate styles with training in sabaki, or loosely translated, the act of turning an attacker's force against themself. In real life, this means pushing, pulling or turning an opponent to gain their back before downing them. Ashihara karate can be learned by anyone from 6 to 60 years of age! Our training is rigorous but adaptable to any build or fitness level. We also teach basic grappling skills based on Jiu Jitsu. Weapons skills, offensive and defensive, are based on both the Filipino martial arts and Combatives, (police/military style arts.) We emphasize physical fitness, discipline, respect and most of all, self defense skills. We are a small club with a big heart! No matter your reason for training, we have something for everyone.
